If you read our recent blog entry, you will have seen that we were invited to join other sustainability leaders at the BusinessGreen Leaders Summit at the Crystal in East London on Wednesday (23rd Oct). Naturally we were excited to attend. Our Sustainability Leader, Fiona was our representative at this engaging and valuable event
A wide range of keynote presentations were given during the day, one particular favourite being a fascinating history of climate change by Dr Alice Bell, co-Director of the charity 10:10, outlining that climate challenges are not a new phenomenon but also the real challenges that lay ahead.
There was a diverse and stimulating spread of other speakers and panellists including Claire Perry O’Neill, President COP26 and current MP, Jo Swinson, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Patrick Mahon from WRAP, Dustin Benton from Green Alliance and Helen Clarkson, CEO of The Climate group.
Two streams for panel debate focused on Innovative Energies and The Circular Revolution, Fiona choosing The Circular Revolution due to JPA’s ongoing furniture resource maximisation, re-use and recycling activities. This proved really useful to get an insight into other types of businesses and what they are doing to combat climate change, but also to get feedback from outside the furniture industry on what JPA are doing. Additionally, Fiona managed to have really useful conversations with Trewin Restorick, Founder and CEO of Hubbub and Natalia Agathou from the London Waste and Recycling Board about how to take JPA's activities forward and met many interesting delegates during the networking breaks.
Definitely time well spent!
