JPA had a GREAT night at the Sustainable City Awards at The Crystal in London on July 17th, which were organised by the London Sustainability Exchange and sponsored by Investec. These were the 19th annual awards and JPA were delighted to win the Managing Resources Award for our unique Project Dodo Furniture Re-use and Recycling Scheme.
Additionally, JPA also won The Sir Peter Parker Award for best overall commercial entry, judged across all categories and presented by the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, Shirley Rodrigues. Both awards were presented to Fiona Edwards, JPA’s Commercial and Sustainability Director.
LSx run learning networks and innovative exemplar schemes and seek to influence policy and practice throughout London and therefore to be recognised in this capacity is a great honour, and confirmation that our work in helping London maximise existing furniture stock and eliminate furniture landfill has relevance and value.
The London Sustainability Exchange (LSx) was founded in 2001 by the City of London and a group of influential partners, who continue to shape its development today. LSx is a “think and do” charity which creates collaborations that address the complex barriers to a sustainable London.
JPA would particularly like to thank the following organisations who have been and continue to be, instrumental in supporting us to evolve our business including: University College London, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, FIRA (Furniture industry Research Association), Herts LEP, Family Business Place, Radio Verulam and The Green Triangle.
What are the Sustainable City Awards?
From the smallest of grass roots groups to the biggest multi-nationals, the Sustainable City Awards celebrate the best examples of innovation and good practice, for a smarter, healthier and more environmentally friendly world.
Founded in 2001 by the City of London Corporation, the awards will this year be coordinated and managed by London Sustainability Exchange to continue the recognition and reward of best practice in environmental management and sustainable leadership.
