JPA were invited to attend Net Zero by 2050: A Policy Response at Rothamstead Research Centre in Harpenden on Friday 20th September organised by Bim Afolami MP, and chaired by Baroness Brown of Cambridge, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Climate Change.
The Conference covered three broad themes – climate change and the economy (including transport), climate change and ecology, and climate change and energy. This was a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the discussion and conversation of how we can all work together to achieve net zero by 2050 in ways that can strengthen our economy and improve living standards and the way of life for everyone.
Within the conference, three aims were discussed:
- To investigate more deeply the policy changes required if the UK is to meet its net zero emissions target by 2050
- Develop a practical set of medium term proposals that can be published, advocated and debated so that Parliament and the Government can consider how to act. The hope this this can be implemented in the next 5-10 years.
- To make sure the public voice is not only consulted but also an integral part of the discussion and decision making.
JPA will continue to take a proactive approach towards sustainability for all clients, illustrating tangible economic, environmental and reputational benefits.
