The Women in Office Design - Sustainable Design Collective team, a cross-company collaborative working group, were invited to attend Orgatec Cologne 2022. The purpose was to present findings from their ongoing programme in relation to tackling the challenges to greater sustainability in workplace design and deliver progressive climate change discussion within our industry.
Orgatec is the leading international trade fair for the modern working world, bringing together a variety of viewpoints, new visions of work and addressing the multi-dimensional nature of working environments and future-oriented concepts.
The group represented a cross section of the furniture industry stakeholders including architects, designers and suppliers, using the opportunity to share a diverse range of experiences to raise awareness, spark debate and encourage further action in relation to sustainable development in our industry.
Collective members took to the “Inspired Hybrid Office Stage'' on Tuesday 25th October for panel discussions organised into 3 sessions. The main focus was on achieving Net Zero and the role of furniture manufacturers in translating these pledges to product design, which are both commercially and practically challenging.
JPA Workspaces are proud to have been represented by Fiona Edwards at Orgatec Cologne 2022 as part of the Women in Design – Sustainable Design Collective team, and enjoyed an incredible few days of learning, laughs and celebrations with the team culminating in the inaugural presentation.
A visit to the factory of Sedus Stoll (Headquarters), a supporter of the collective’s mission since day one, was missed by most members of the team as extreme localised bad weather caused flights to be cancelled at Heathrow on 23rd October. A huge thank you to
Sedus Stoll (Headquarter) for sponsoring the trip and to Ben Wheeler for his tireless hospitality and resilience during our travel adventures.
